Question

Blowout & Kill simulation report: Maximum oil blowout rate for the Serin well was found to be
18160 Sm3/day at seabed (open hole). a) Is the maximum blowout based upon penetration of 37,5
m net pay ? b) Is Vertical permeability of 200 mD a conservative approach ?

Answer

a) The Serin maximum oil blowout rate of 18160 Sm3/day at seabed (openhole) is based upon
full exposure of all 3 reservoirs – Serin Shallow = 37.5m net pay, Serin Deep = 37.5m net pay
and Linnet = 12m net pay. I.e. a total of 87m net pay.
b) The vertical permeability of 200mD is a conservative estimate for the Serin reservoirs.
Based on offset wells (core and log data) the P50 porosity of 22% corresponds to an average
permeability of 100mD.
